Flood Control International (FCI) and Point Engineering have signed a landmark collaboration agreement. The two companies will develop and supply approved flood prevention doors and gates to the construction and utility sectors as a result of their partnership.
Jonathan Rollison, sales director at Hull-based Point, said: “We will work together to bring approved products to the market. Our manufacturing experience in the marine and offshore industry coupled with FCI’s flood control projects experience makes absolute sense for the UK client base.”
Recent contracts for the supply of specialist doors have included installations for buildings on the extension to the Docklands Light Railway in London, a pumping station near Southampton and a sensitive archives stronghold. The two companies believe that by combining their skills they will be able to take a market-leading position.
“FCI has a wealth of knowledge associated with the subject of flood defence and we have decades of experience in manufacturing and testing watertight doors and gates,” added Mr Rollison.
With the collaboration in place all marketing and sales will be handled by FCI through their Tavistock offices and Point will provide the specialist door and gate products to install in their flood prevention and control projects.
Point Engineering is a Lloyds Register approved manufacturer and also has DNV approvals in place for specialist door products used in marine, offshore and renewables projects.
Tim Collingwood, managing director of FCI, said: “Point Engineering has all of the skills and attributes we were looking for in a UK partner to deliver well engineered flood doors and flood gates.
“The combination of flood protection, security and fire resistance in a single door is unique and we already have a number of contracts for UK utility companies and other clients.”
