Commission a Corporate Business Project
Hull University Business School is offering an opportunity to commission a business school corporate business project around a particular business problem or challenge that you may be facing.
As part of their degree students on full time MBA and MSc programmes complete a short term research project over the summer. Students can choose to undertake a corporate business project, thus bringing the latest in business thinking to your organization, making an impact on complex business issues, and providing a cost-effective, short-term resource without a long term commitment.
For organizations interested in taking part in this activity we require initial project ideas to be submitted to us by an extended deadline of the 20th January 2010. The template attached requests some key information to help ensure projects put forward are appropriate.
- Projects start in June and need to be completed and fully written-up by students by mid September.
- Most of our students are international, coming largely from China, India, the Middle East and Africa, and many have substantial work experience.
- Projects can be on most areas of business, past projects include: change management; selection and retention; cost analysis; learning & knowledge management; community work; marketing strategy & planning; logistics and operations.
- Students need to collect and analyze data which is usually gathered from interviews, surveys, documents or management information systems.
- The students would normally spend time in the organization, but how much they do this is negotiable.
- Projects are co-ordinated on an expenses only basis, which normally means that organizations support travel expenses for the student to enable them to undertake the project.
- In nominating a project please consider how much specialized, technical or trade knowledge is needed. If projects are too specialized this can act as a barrier.
The business school’s dedicated World of Work office will provide support throughout the entire project process, and are available to answer any immediate questions you may have.
