WTCA Day 2009 spreads WTC/WTCA story around the World
The eighth annual WTCA Day, celebrated June 10, proved to be a very useful event to promote and publicize the WTCA’s objectives and the wide range of WTC services available to international businesses. Here are a few examples of the types of WTCA Day activities organized by WTCs this year.
On WTCA Day in Algiers, the WTC organized for the sixth time a special event called “Export Trophy” to recognize and honor the region’s most successful exporters. It was held June 3, in cooperation with local partners, to coincide with the closing day of the first Algerian Export Fair. The ceremony was chaired by Algeria’s deputy minister of commerce, and WTC Algiers General Manager and CEO Ahmed Tibaoui delivered a presentation to those in attendance.
To celebrate WTCA Day at WTC Mumbai, a reception was held June 17 for many VIP dignitaries, foreign diplomats, industrialists, government officials, WTC Council members and other special guests. To mark the occasion, the WTC Award of Honor was conferred on the Essar Group in recognition of their unique contributions to India’s international trade.
WTC Buffalo Niagara sponsored “World Trade Celebration 2009,” featuring a presentation on “Joining Resources to Spark Global Change” by John Stropki, president, CEO and chairman of Lincoln Electric. It was the largest annual business networking event in the region honoring companies and leaders active in international business.
At WTC Morelos, WTCA Day was celebrated with a presentation of the WTC’s services to a group of senior government officials and entrepreneurs.
